The origin

The Research That Inspired Edulwise

Edulwise was not born from an idea. It was born from a finding.

Before Edulwise existed, an independent ecological research project called DOCTA2LE-FR set out to observe how children actually interact with educational technology. This study was conducted on a separate, predecessor platform, not on Edulwise. Over 1.5 years, it observed 380 students and logged more than 107,000 completed exercises on that platform.

The project was ecologically tested in classrooms with a cantonal authority, supported by over €1.9M in public research grants (SNSF, Erasmus+, Movetia) and led by Prof. Thierry Geoffre, CEO and co-founder of Edulwise.

The core findings

The Core Findings

Before exploring the full papers, here are the three empirical realities that shaped our architecture.

Finding 01

The Adoption Failure

Accessibility tools in current platforms are used strategically in less than 9% of cases.

Finding 02

The Persistence Trap

74% of students persist in unproductive cognitive states without targeted, process-aware help.

Finding 03

The Equity Gap

The students who need help the most successfully access digital support only 6.5% of the time, compared to 13.3% for their peers.

That finding proved that outcome-based educational AI is fundamentally broken. It is the exact reason Edulwise was founded and offers as a new, purpose-built platform.
