Data and Privacy

Protecting Children's Rights by Design.

The foundation

Children as Rights Holders

Children are not data subjects. They are rights holders. Because Edulwise is built specifically for primary schools, we operate under the strictest interpretations of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the rigorous demands of local educational and data protection authorities. We do not treat privacy as a legal checklist to manage after the fact. We treat it as a fundamental right, embedded into the architecture from day one.

The principles
Principle One

No Personal Data

Students have no accounts. We never collect or store personal information: no names, no addresses, no identities. This architectural guarantee ensures we strictly comply with local ministry and cantonal regulations regarding child data protection.

Principle Two

No Black Boxes

Every algorithmic trigger is traceable to a specific, auditable reasoning configuration, grounded in didactic and cognitive theories. Any stakeholder, from a parent to a ministry auditor, can see exactly why a decision was made. There is no hidden logic.

Principle Three

Purpose-Limited, Anonymized Data

What we do collect is strictly anonymized interaction data, the trace of how a child reasons through an exercise. This data serves two purposes only. We use it to improve our diagnostic models, and to audit them for equity. It is governed as a public resource for learning research, never for commercial exploitation.

The commitment

Ethical by Design

These principles operationalize the PAIEd governance framework and international standards on children's rights. In Edulwise, ethics is not a compliance checkbox. It is the design itself.
